An award-winning author and investment advisor, I have been managing investment portfolios for individual investors, institutions, and nonprofits for over 35 years. I have experience in all aspects of investment management including equity and fixed-income research, trading, and portfolio management.
I am the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Main Street Research, an investment and wealth management firm with offices in Manhattan, Greenwich, and Lakeville, CT, as well as Sausalito, CA. Launched in 1993, Main Street Research, an SEC-registered investment advisor, manages almost $2 billion for a select group of families and foundations employing the investment and risk management strategies presented in this book.
I have a deep understanding of investment and wealth management, with a particular emphasis on macroeconomic analysis and risk management. I am responsible for creating the firm’s Active Risk Management processes and unique Performance-Based Fee structure.
When I am not monitoring global markets or flying between offices on the East and West coasts, I enjoy spending time with my family, vintage sports cars, jazz clubs, and all fitness-related sports. I graduated from Harvard University, and my experience includes positions with LF Rothschild and Lehman Brothers.
I strongly believe that it is better to have a prosperous society than to have a struggling one. People at all income levels need to understand investing so they can build the assets they need to provide for their families, educate their children, and ensure that they have enough income saved for retirement and financial independence. Therefore, I have written three books to share what I have learned.

In my latest title, Wall Street Lessons, (New Insights Press, 2023) I share what it takes to become a disciplined and rational investor. The book presents how to avoid 13 of the most common psychological investment blunders one might be driven to make due to fear, greed, or both.
Today’s Wall Street is fast-paced, chaotic, and unpredictable, and many popular investment theories, such as modern portfolio theory (with its “diversify” and “buy and hold” strategy) no longer work.
To become a successful investor, I offer you a comprehensive system involving 10 fundamental principles to follow, and a clear process that starts with the thoughtful preparation of your financial and lifestyle goals plus knowledge of how Wall Street works with its historical patterns of peaks and troughs.
In Wall Street Lessons you can now learn to…
- * Select stocks based on sector performance
- * Recognizable economic cycles
- * Monitor and adjust your portfolio
- * Reduce risks
- * Maximize profits
Whether you are a novice or an experienced investor, Wall Street Lessons introduces you to a smarter way of thinking about growing your wealth with a more effective process that provides a greater possibility of positive returns and stronger risk management.
