23 yr Navy retired. Student of history. Writer for 10 years. Author of STREET POLITICS: IT AIN'T YOUR DADDY'S GOP ANYMORE. I also make furniture, decor and yard games.
I'm new to podcasting and building two shows on Substack from zero. P4B is now getting a little traction. The Energy Revolt is proving that most people who write so passionately about "taking our country back" and such stuff, are really just keyboard warriors and phony fighters.
The book was first conceived in 1992 while I watched Bush 41 yawn his way through his reelection bit. Sadly, the work would have a very long gestation period. I was only halfway through my military career and would later take a job with a DoD contractor near DC for 15 years.
While working in Virginia, I did start a political blog. This was before the time that you would light a fart on social media and your boss would get and alert message. But a political book would have been out of the question. My sharp edged political rhetoric would have put my boss in uncomfortable light and possibly be seen as a compromise of a position in a high security world. So I kept my blog going and waited.
Sometime in late 2013 and early 2014 I started outlining the book and left my job in 2015. The first draft was done as the 2016 campaign was starting to come together. I had said many times, and in Street Politics, that the next conservative to win the White House would be brash, in-your-face and unafraid of controversy. And then, Donald Trump came down the golden escalator. Ruh-Roh, Shaggy. One must be careful what one wishes for.
Many of the predictions in the book have come to pass. The direction and policy recommendations are still solid, where adopted, they work. And that is because they are concrete, common sense approaches to the questions they address. And Trump did pretty well under the circumstances; constant badgering by lesser heel nippers, the Covid overreaction exploding his booming economy. He still had a short economic comeback until the end of his term.
What happened after that is what I write about now.
I like political and military history. I lean fiscal conservative/libertarian. In the strictest sense, that is actually redundant. Totally anti-ESG and Gender fads. I like 60' and 70's rock including Wakeman's epic albums, Billy Joel, John Prine, Meatloaf and Queen. I like the Outlaws even though they were weren't a real band.
1. I don't know how to limit this to 10 but: Who were the most significant military and political figures in history?
2. What are the greatest dangers to the United States, not the geographical land mass, but the republic?
3. After being so hard on Trump in your book, why did you go on to defend him in some of your writing?
4. Why did Donald Trump become such a force in American politics?
5. Who are your favorite authors and why?
6. What do you hope people will take away from P4B?
7. What do you mean in some of your hashtags "#anationof12yrolds"?
8. What will history say about this time and us, as Americans?
9. Why does a Gunner's Mate, Logistics Contractor, Furniture maker become a political writer?
10. Who is the least appreciated talent in Rock history?...this is not the limit of questions. we can talk about show prep.
As of 12/29/23 I have had two appearances. I hope you'll ask me on. And I'll gladly reciprocate.
I will use all my social media (I'm adding others as we speak) to promote our work. And I will promote it on my podcast in the days leading up to release.
