Steven Kubacki, PhD, is a believer in praxis, the old Greek word that denotes the making real of ideas and imagination through some form of action. He is not merely interested in the frontiers of knowledge but engages in activities and adventures—both physical and cerebral—to expand the boundaries of the possible. In his life’s work, he views himself as an applied philosopher or “Nexalist,” that is, a person who integrates knowledge and know-how across diverse domains in the sciences and humanities, so constructive ideas and theories to affect individual change and systemic transformation can be developed. These domains include psychology, economics, governance, sociology, anthropology, spirituality, literature, history, general philosophy, philosophy of science, and modern critical theory.

Currently, Steven is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Seattle, WA, with an MA in Linguistics and BA in German Studies. He has been a professor, supervisor of doctoral students, director of clinical training, psychology departmental chair, Fulbright-Hays scholar, and psychoanalytic fellow in American Psychology Association Psychoanalysis Division. He has published in journals and is the author of Meta-Mathematical Foundations of Existence.

His most recent publication is a memoir, The Disappearance: Conspiracy, Revolution, Revelation… The Extraordinary Disappearance of Steven Kubacki (After 45 Years of Silence). This ‘Coming of Age’ memoir reveals what actually happened after he disappeared on the ice of Lake Michigan in February of 1978 and was presumed dead, only to shockingly re-emerge 15 months later in Massachusetts. At age 23, Stevem was grappling with identity, purpose, and belonging, when he did what no one in history had done: disappear to start a political and economic revolution in order to form a world-wide people’s movement. As its leader, Steven would then coordinate with his co-conspirators, who were to assume positions of power and wealth in the areas of business/finance as billionaires, politics as national leaders, and religion as leaders or prophets of a new Christian Church. They would decades later combine our strengths and change the world.

They called their organization the Nexalistic Revolutionary Front and Steven changed his identity to Nathan T. Stanfield. While Steven was underground as Nathan, he experienced both a psychological and a spiritual coming of age between the forces of good and evil. He had interdimensional, or what now might be called multiverse experiences, involving beings of light and beings of darkness. In Mexico and Japan, he trained in the martial arts, joined the French Foreign Legion, and had romantic interludes that almost undermined his resolve.  In the end, he could not become the revolutionary he was training to become and so failed in his mission. That then led to the failure of the NRF and redemption, and he is glad it did.

The memoir is filled with political and economic documents and letters by Steven and his co-conspirators as well as letters to him from his mother, who never believed he was dead and hired detectives to find him. There is also intense poetry by Steven that discloses his self-doubt, visions and bravado, and the rage and hopefulness that propelled him. With all the turmoil afflicting young adults today, especially men, the pervasive feelings or resignation and helplessness across all ages, and the alarming rise of authoritarianism in the USA, his memoir calls for a need to act, ultimately in a nonviolent and constructive way. Lasty, as Dr. Kubacki, he has provided ample insights in the memoir regarding radicalization of young adults for positive and negative purposes.
