PROFESSIONAL GENETIC GENEALOGIST AND OWNER OF KNOW MY ROOTS LLC
After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree, I went on to earn dual graduate-level diplomas in Genealogy and Documentary Sciences from the University of London, and from the International College of Interdisciplinary Sciences. I also obtained advanced research certificates in both Genetic and Forensic Genealogy.
In my professional research practice, nearly one hundred percent of my clients are adoptees or those with unknown fathers, who are searching for biological family. My case-solving rate is ninety percent, and the positive outcomes when my clients meet biological family is between eighty and ninety percent. I'm all about connecting family members with other family members, both living and deceased.
I also serve as Chairman of the Advisory Board for Century Vital Records, an imaging an indexing company based in Bengaluru, India, who provides services for the largest genealogical research companies such as Family Search, and Ancestry.com.
As well, I'm a Roots Tech Ambassador, for the largest genealogical conference in the world. I help promote the conference beforehand, and during the conference, I write about the events, and I also interview the keynote speakers. Last year I interviewed NFL's Emmitt Smith, and The Blind Side's Leigh Anne Tuohy.
AUTHOR OF BEST-SELLING HISTORICAL FICTION NOVEL, ONCE UPON AN IRISH SUMMER
This book was released April 3, 2020, and is a dual timeline novel of two teenagers, two centuries apart, in one city, telling the untold chronicle of a United States historical figure as a young man while he journeyed through antebellum America to find a way to save his family. This profound story is woven with the compelling struggle of his 15-year-old descendant 200 years later, as she battles through grief to find herself again.
I wrote this book through the eyes of a teenager because of the results of Emory University’s study on teenagers knowing—or not knowing—their family histories. The study was based on 20 questions. The results showed that youth who knew the answers to these 20 questions had a stronger sense of control over their lives, higher self-esteem, a greater belief in the successful functioning of their families, and they also proved to be more resilient to life’s challenges. My hope is to turn the hearts of teens to their family trees, to embrace whatever they find, to learn from their ancestors, honor them, and then stand on their shoulders to become someone even better.
NATIONAL OFFICER FOR DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
As a former art school student and as a life-long learner of the fine art of painting, I currently serve as a national officer for the NSDAR over art and sculpture in the annual American Heritage Contest. From the thirteen sub-categories in the contest, each first-place winner’s art piece goes on display at Continental Congress in Washington D.C. each June. The purpose of the contest is to preserve our nation’s history as well as the histories of the descendants of Patriots who fought in the American Revolutionary War.
