These are some of the Frequently Asked Questions we get. If this does not answer your question, please contact us.
Podcasters looking for guests
Q: How do I find guests?
A: There are two ways to find guests, both free for podcasts. One is to submit your podcast to be featured in the emails we send to 43,000+ potential guest experts each week. (You’ll get the link to submit your show when you sign up for free at PodcastGuests.com). The other is to invite guests that are in our directory.
There’s a queue to be featured in the emails, so you can submit your show and then find guests immediately using the directory.
Q: Why do I have to have an Apple Podcasts link to submit my podcast?
A: Guests want to know that the podcasts they appear on are high quality and syndicated for the highest possible reach. Apple Podcasts is an important distribution point for podcasts. It’s free and easy to get listed in Apple Podcasts, so we request that shows we feature have a listing there. If you’re not in Apple Podcasts you can still invite guests through the directory.
Q: Can I charge guests? Do they expect to be paid?
A: No and no. We do not allow podcasters to charge guests, nor do we allow guests to charge podcasters. If a podcaster receives any sort of compensation for an appearance, then the FTC requires them to disclose this before the interview. And then you have an infomercial. And no one wants to listen to an infomercial.
Q: Does PodcastGuests.com charge me as a podcaster?
A: No, our services are free for podcasters.
Q: What happens when you feature my podcast in your emails?
A: Potential guests will submit pitches to you. These are collated into a spreadsheet that you can view and contact the people who are a fit to schedule their interview.
Q: How many pitches should I expect?
A: It depends on your topic and what expertise you’re seeking. Some podcasts get over 100 pitches from guest experts, while others get just a few. Either way, it’s easy to sort through the pitches in the combined sheet we give you access to. And it’s free.
A: I have a YouTube channel /live radio show/streaming interview show. Can I still use your service?
Q: You can invite people through our directory. If you also convert your show to a podcast that is listed on Apple Podcasts, then your podcast can be featured in our emails.
Guests/Experts looking to get booked
Q: How do I get booked on podcasts?
A: We send two free email newsletters each week with lists of podcasts that are actively looking for guests. Review the lists to find podcasts you are a fit for and then click the link(s) in the email to fill out a pitch form. You can sign up for our free newsletter on our homepage.
Q: Does PodcastsGuests.com charge me as a guest?
A: We do not charge you to be a guest or get the free newsletter with podcasts seeking guests.
Q: Then how do you make money?
A: Guests have the option to get a listing/online one-sheet in our directory so that podcasters can invite them directly to their shows, rather than (or in addition to) having to pitch podcasts. This is completely optional.
Q: How can I increase the response rate to my pitches?
A: Be sure you are a fit for the podcast’s guest qualifications. Write a customized pitch for each show. Review the podcasts prior episodes to get a feel for it. And make sure to clearly define why you are a great fit for the podcaster.
Q: How do I get more bookings?
A: Two ways:
- PodcastGuests.com is a do-it-yourself platform, not an agency. This means you need to put in some effort by reviewing our 2x/weekly emails and pitching to the relevant podcasts.
- Joining our directory as a Premium member will get you the most bookings, as you get higher visibility and inclusion in our newsletter as a featured guest.
Q: I get your emails but the podcasts aren’t relevant to me.
A: We have a wide variety of shows each week, so keep checking our emails for podcasts that are a fit.
Q: I see guest experts featured in your emails. How do I get in the emails?
A: Premium-level members are included in our emails on a rotating basis. The “Featured Expert” at the top is a Premium member who paid a one-time fee for the Platinum feature.
Q: Can I charge podcasters for my appearance?
A: No. The benefits of being a guest include growing your audience, marketing yourself/company, SEO, and other non-monetary things.
Logging in
Q: I tried to log in, but it says my email is not recognized. What’s going on?
A: You only need to log in if you have a paid account or registered a podcaster account. Otherwise, a login is not required.
Q: What do I do if I forgot my password?
A: Click the “Forgot your password?” link under the login box.
Q: I submitted the “Forgot your password” link and didn’t receive an email.
A: You might have registered with another email, or you don’t have a paid or podcaster account (see first question in this section). Contact us if you don’t fall into these categories.
Membership questions
Q: What types of memberships do you offer?
A: We have three levels: Free, Basic and Premium. Details on the Basic and Premium levels are here. Premium gets the most podcast invites.
Q: If I choose a paid plan, can I cancel at any time?
A: Yes. If you cancel, your plan will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle.
Q: Can I change plans?
A: Yes, and a pro-rated credit for the remainder of your current plan’s billing cycle will be applied to your account.
